South by Southwest Interactive is launching a track of Latinos in technology programming this March; the three-day programming is set to showcase Latino talents, tech and innovation.

The event is free to the public, no SXSW admission required, and starts on Friday, March 7 through March 9. According to a statement, the intention of the programming is:

In its inaugural year, the Latinos in Technology Track will explore the impact of the Hispanic voice on technology and technology impacted sectors and, in turn, the impact of technology on the Hispanic voice.

Some of the events included in the programming include: Chicapreneurs: Latinas in Technology, What Would Cesar Chavez Tweet? Latinos & New Media, Latinos Use Technology For Culture Sustainability, and full disclosure, I will be on a panel called, Blogueras Latinas & the Importance of their Voice.

In addition to the official SXSW Latino track, other Latino-centric events at the conference will include a pre-conference event sponsored by The Kapor Center for Social Impact on March 6, Latin@s in Tech and social get together, El Hangout on March 10, also sponsored by Kapor.

El Hangout is being billed as a “pachanga” for Latinos at the conference, and organizer Mando Rayo said the event is meant to help “connect the dots for Latinos at SXSW and in the digital space.” (Full disclosure Más Wired will be helping organize this event).

Rayo, CEO of the digital agency Mando Rayo + Collective, said the events are important not only to getting Latino together at SXSW, but in connecting them and brainstorming for the future.

“My goal is to make sure there’s diversity in tech, that Latinos play a large role in the digital space,” he told Más Wired. “For me it’s about infusing these Latino ideas, innovation and content into those mainstream conversations.”
