Textter is a real-time texting app from Miami

Carlos Cueto created Textter after watching his two teenaged daughters texting. They text constantly, he said, and so are constantly frustrated by having to wait until their friends respond to their texts. With Textter he found a way to address this issue: instead of watching as texts are being composed, Textter allows users to see texts being written in real-time.
Cueto told Más Wired that the company was recently contacted by a large medical device maker, requesting a group chat function in order to see which emergency responders are available.… more

Carlos Villaseñor is a man with a vision. And when it comes to BioVideo — the company he founded in Monterrey, Mexico and then subsequently moved to San Antonio, Texas — that vision is one of growth.
Already the company is growing. Whether you count the number of hospitals in which parents are able to receive a complimentary and professionally edited video of their child’s birth, or the number of features available to parents who download the BioVideo mobile app, or the number of cities outside of Texas (such as New York, Los Angeles, or Chicago) where BioVideos will become available in the near future, BioVideo is certainly growing.… more
Vote for Latino & Latina panels at SXSW

It’s that time of year again — getting ready for South by Southwest next year! The way panels are selected for the festival is they are partly voted on by the public (30%), partly from an advisory panel (40%) and partly from SXSW staff (30%).
You have until September 5 to vote for a panel. First you have to create a PanelPicker account, then please vote for as many of these panels as you feel inclined.

Latina Startup Tour Kicks off in August

If you’re a Latina and an entrepreneur, then you need to be a part of Latina Startup Tour.
This is the vision behind the latest business venture of Deldelp Medina and Francesca Escoto, co-founders of Latina Startup Tour, a series of events that will take place in eight cities across the U.S. over the next few months to bring together entrepreneurial Latinas for hands-on business technology training, networking and mentorship.

In El Paso, Limbs Intl innovates prosthetic devices

Limbs International has been innovating the way that amputees can be mobile since 2004. Originally just a program for students of Limbs’ President Dr. Roger Gonzalez to work on a prosthetic knee, the program has since expanded to include feet and arms, as well as serving more countries. VChain Solutions innovates the supply chain

An unhappy mistake as a supply chain college intern inspired a passion for this work in James Vinson, who then dedicated his professional career to figuring out how to make supply chain more efficient and easier. In 2005 he left his job at Motorola to found VChain Solutions with the intent to build that solution, to make supply chain more proactive and less prone to errors.
The Austin-based company is a supply chain solutions company that offers supply chain software and consulting, but is also invested in creating the next generation of supply chain professionals.… more
